Getting to Know the Alliance and What We Are Working On

I’m often asked, “Who is the Alliance?” or “What does the Alliance do?” My go-to answer is usually “We’re the statewide association for nonprofits, much like a chamber.” Inevitably I see heads nod up and down with looks of acceptance like “Oh, now I understand.”
rn
rnThese are conversations with friends and family, introductions at workshops, and even conversations with nonprofit professionals who just haven’t yet been exposed or knew an organization like ours existed to assist them.
rn
rnIf you’re reading this, you know who the Alliance is, but you may not know that in some states, an organization like the Alliance doesn’t exist. The National Council of Nonprofits is actively working on this, but it takes time. In those states, there is no place for nonprofits to come together on policy efforts and there are few places for nonprofits to network or participate in learning opportunities specifically curated for the nonprofit sector and all of our nuances.
rn
rnArizona nonprofits are fortunate to have such a strong network that’s been built by not only the Alliance itself, but other capacity building entities and community stakeholders who value and see the importance of collaboration. It’s those same people who saw the vision for the Alliance in the early 2000s.
rn
rnWe’re excited to start bringing back more in-person events like our Annual Nonprofit Conference on August 25, Member Luncheons, ONE events, and even some workshops beginning this summer and fall so we can get back to networking and collaborating more.
rn
rnDuring the pandemic the Alliance has expanded its programs and educational offerings, growing its advocacy efforts, buttoning up its own processes and procedures, and adding additional staff in an effort to provide more for Arizona’s nonprofits – we know there is still much more work to strengthen, unite and advance our sector.
rn
rnOur team is currently busy working several new and improved educational and capacity building programs and is making enhancements in the ways in which some of them will be delivered too.

rnWe’re excited about the additional options your staff and board will have to strengthen your nonprofit’s foundation so you can grow your mission. Your community and clients will thank you for committing the time, and while they may not know who the Alliance is and how they’ve helped your organization, I’ll commit to continuing my simple explanation until the day comes that everyone does know the Alliance and what we do. 😉
